September 2009-Recipe of the Month- Better Breakfast Month

Children love to cook and eating their creations is even better!  This month we are featuring the BEST cinnamon toast ever.  Knowing most children are leery about trying (eating) whole wheat/grain breads, this recipe introduces them to the whole grains-but with a sweet finish!

Best Ever Cinnamon Toast


Ingredients Needed:

Whole wheat/grain bread
Butter (softened)
Sugar
Cinnamon

Utensils Needed:

Knife
Plate
Spoon
Measuring cup or small bowl
Potholders
Oven or tabletop broiler

Directions:

Wash and dry hands.
Assemble ingredients.
Mix a portion of sugar with some cinnamonin a small bowl or measuring cup.
Spread the bread with the softened butter.
Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mix over the butter.
Have an adult put the bread under the broiler for about 5 minutes, until the butter and sugar is bubbling.
Have the adult use the potholder to remove the toast from the broiler. Let cool.
Serve on the plate.
