October 2007 - Popcorn Month Recipes
Popcorn is easy to do whether you have an air popper in your classroom or a microwave. If you have a microwave, you can either use pre-packaged microwave popcorn or make your own package by using a brown paper bag and some popping corn out of a regular bag of popping corn. Put enough kernels into the bag to cover the bottom. Fold the top down and put it in the microwave--bag on its side. Cook on high for about 2 1/2- 3 minutes. Listen to the popping, when the popping starts to slow down, remove the bag from the microwave and let the bag rest for a few minutes before opening.

Large spoon
measuring spoons
Potholder (for hot bag of popcorn)
Directions:
1. Wash and dry hands.
2. Put popped corn into a large bowl.
3. Spray popcorn lightly with the butter flavored spray.
4. Sprinkle on desired herb or seasonings- start with a scant tablespoon.
5. Toss to mix the popcorn with the seasoning. Add more seasoning if desired.
6. Enjoy!
Make several different batches and have the children vote on which taste they like the best. Ask which were sweet, spicy or sour tasting. (Great for those classroom graphs you need to do). Individual pieces of popcorn are also great for counting, adding and subtracting skills!
