We all know that firehouses are known for their chili--because it is a
meal that can be made, and sits well if there is a fire that the
firemen need to put out-- so they can come back and reheat and eat a
hearty meal! This recipe is made in the classroom microwave and
the children will love it!
Firehouse Chili Dip

Ingredients:
12 ounces of softened cream cheese
1 can of chili (15-16 ounces)
12 ounces of shredded mild cheddar cheese
1 bag of yellow tortilla chips (triangular shape)
1 bag of red tortilla chips (triangular shape)
Needed:
9x13 inch microwave casserole dish
small microwaveable bowl to heat chili
bowl for chips ( or cauldron)
rubber spatula
potholder
Directions:
1. Wash and dry hands.
2. Spread ( with spatula) softened cream cheese on bottom of microwave casserole dish.
3. Heat chili in microwave bowl and then spread over cream cheese layer.
4. Sprinkle shredded cheddar evenly over chili layer.
5. Microwave on high for 2 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly.
6. Let stand for 5-10 minutes to cool slightly.
7. Serve dip with tortilla chips that have been arranged in bowl to look like fire flames (tips up).
