November 2009-RECIPE OF THE MONTH-Thanksgiving Vases

This month's recipe completes our craft-a centerpiece for our Thanksgiving Table.  Almost everyone LOVES chocolate covered pretzels, so we are making our in fall colors so they look like the tail feathers of a turkey.

Ingredients Needed:

Pretzel Rods
Chocolate Chips
Orange Melting Wafers
Vanilla Melting Wafers
Fall edible sprinkles

Utensils Needed:

Waxed Paper
Plastic Knife
Spoon
Bowls
Snack Size Zip Lock bags
Scissors
Microwave oven

Directions:

Wash and dry hands.
Melt chocolate chips in small bowl using the microwave.  Microwave for 1 minute. Stir.  Microwave for 30 second intervals until totally melted when stirred.
Using plastic knife, spread chocolate on 1/2 of the pretzel rods, coating well.
Place rods on waxed paper to cool.
Place several melting wafers in the snack bags and microwave for 1 minute.  Seal bag and then squeeze bag to knead wafers, until melted and not lumpy.
Snip off a corner of the bag and squeeze lines across the pretzel rods over the chocolate.
Hand decorate with fall edible sprinkles.
Let dry.
Place pretzel rods in finished yogurt container.
Set in center of the table.
*If a lot of people will be attending the Thanksgiving dinner, make several of these vases.
