March 2009- Recipe the Month-Kite Fun!
 
We took your standard  Krispie Treats and turned them into kite snacks, both the traditional and the box kite! ANY child you know will LOVE making these kites.

Traditional Kite Snack



                


Ingredients Needed:

Cake pan (block) of Krispie Treats - already made
Licorice twists
Licorice laces
Tube of pipe on frosting/gel

Utensils Needed:

Plate
Knife
Cutting Board

Directions:

On a cutting board cut a kite shape out of a portion of the Krispie treat block.
Cut licorice twists into 1" pieces.
Tie a licorice lace around the twists to form the tail of the kite.
Set the kite tail on a plate.
Place the kite krispie on top of the top end of the tail.
Decorate the kite with the gel/frosting.
Add a licorice lace string.

Box Kite Snack


Ingredients Needed:

Block of Krispie Treats
Licorice twists
Licorice laces
Tube of gel/frosting

Utensils Needed:

Plate
Cutting Board
Knife
Chop Stick

Directions:

Cut two squares off the Krispie block.
Using the chop stick, create four  corner holes in one side of each square.
Cut the licorice twists into 2-3" pieces, angling the ends.
Insert the ends into the holes in one of the Krispie squares.
Now insert the other ends of the licorice twists into the second Krispie square.
Place the box kite snack on a plate
Tie a licorice lace onto one of the twists to form the kite string.
Decorate the Krispie kite ends with the frosting/gel.
Serve!
