Dental Tooth Collage

Materials Needed:
White Construction Paper
Old Magazines or ad papers
Glue
Scissors
Directions:
Cut a large tooth shape out of the construction paper.
Have the children leaf through the magazines or ads for people smiling, missing teeth, toothpaste or toothbrush ads. Tear out those ads.
Cut the pictures out to fit on the tooth outline.
Arrange the pictures and glue down.
These make great bulletin board items or can be hung from the classroom ceiling with string.
Have the children explain why they picked a certain picture to put on their tooth, and how it relates to dental month!
*This craft is great for improving cutting skills and perceptual motor skills in trying to place the pictures so they fit on the tooth. If a child is having difficulty cutting the pictures out, use a marker to draw lines where the child should be cutting.
Dental Month Mobile
Materials Needed:
Hanger
Pictures or coloring page of a smile, tooth, toothpaste, toothbrush and mouthwash/dental floss
Crayons or markers (if coloring)
Colored Construction paper
String
Hole punch
Scissors
Directions:
Color the page of dental items and cut them out or find the pictures in a magazine/ads and cut them out.
Glue these pictures on the construction paper and let dry.
Cut out the pictures again, leaving a little of the construction paper showing.
Punch a hole in the top of each item.
Tie a string (varied lengths) through each hole.
Tie the other string onto the hanger at various intervals on the bar of the hanger. Save one of the pictures and hang in the center of the hanger.
Hang the mobile and watch it blow in the wind.
This craft is great for improving scissors skills and bilateral motor control. It is also a great activity to introduce tying knots.
Tooth Fairy Box:
Materials Needed:
Small box (like a matchbox or empty TicTac container)
Paint
Paintbrush
Wax paper
White Construction Paper
Scissors
Glue
Marker
*Mod Podge
Directions:
Take the small box and paint it to cover the logo on the box (this may require several coats of paint).
Let the paint dry by placing the box on wax paper (so it does not stick to anything as it dries).
Cut a tooth shape out of the white paper.
Glue the tooth shape on the top of the box and let it dry.
Use the marker to outline the tooth and print whatever lettering you want on the box.
*The box is done or can be further finished by coating with a coat of Mod-podge.
This craft is great for repetitive hand motion and bilateral manipulation.
