Chinese New Year is fast approaching (February 7th--The Year of The
Rat)! Children love to celebrate, and making dragons is a lot of
fun!
Chinese Dragons

Materials Needed:
newspaper
egg carton
red paint
paint brush
scissors
2 1" yellow pom poms
2 googly eyes
1 cottom ball
marker
stickers
glue
yellow plastic grocery bag, crepe paper, construction or tissue paper
Directions:
1.Cover table with newspaper.
2.Cut egg carton into two "dragons" lengthwise.
3.Paint egg carton red and let dry.
4.Glue on pompoms at the top of first egg carton cell and let dry.
5.Glue googly eyes onto pompoms and let dry.
6.Pull cotton ball into oval shape and glue on for mouth. Let dry,
7.Decorate "dragon" with stickers if desired.
8.Fold plastic bag or yellow paper in half and cut into 4" x 12" strip. Fringe strip.
9.Glue strip to bottom of egg carton cells, by putting a dab of glue at
edge of each cell and attaching fringe and then let dry.
10. The marker can add mouth or other embellishments to dragon.
These make great table decorations or look great hanging from the ceiling or attached to a bulletin board.
This activity is great for repetitive wrist action (painting) and pinch
grasp (removing and placing stickers as well as the facial
parts). Scissors skills are addressed by making the fringed "feet"
