Fall 2010- Craft of the Season- Just Nuts!
We are going to a seasonal format for the crafts and recipes until business picks up. We appreciate your support, but we will not be able to continue if we don't get some orders-our prices are very reasonable. If there is a reason you are not ordering from us, please let us know so we can correct the problem, and get back to monthly crafts/ recipes and sequencing pictures.
FALL NUT PEOPLE
These are great for place cards, centerpieces or glued onto name tags. This craft is also a great opportunity to teach the children about the different kind of nuts there are in the world.

Materials Needed:
Assorted Nuts in shell
Googly eyes
Craft foam or felt scraps
Permanent Markers or squeeze paint
Glue Stick
Scissors
Fake fur scraps
Directions:
Glue googly eyes on nuts and let glue dry.
Draw nose and mouth on nuts with marker, or paints. Let dry.
Cut small feet out of craft foam or felt scraps.
Glue feet onto the bottom of the nuts, let dry.
Add fake fur wisps for hair if desired, by gluing wisps to the top of the nut.
*Arms and hands can be added out of ribbon scraps and felt scraps if desired.
Put nuts on table or at individual places on the table. OR, glue back of the nut onto name pins and wear.
This craft is a great bilateral motor control activity. It gives practice in simple shape cutting. If you want to give the children some stereognostic practice (the ability to discriminate by touch--like retrieving the keys from your purse or pocket) then try this. Show the child the nuts and explain the differences between the nuts. Put the assorted nuts in a paper or cloth bag and have the child reach in and retrieve the nut you request (peanut, almond, walnut, Brazil nut, etc).
