DECEMBER 2009-Recipes of the Month- Winter Trees

Cone Tree



Ingredients Needed:

Waffle Sugar Cone
Can of Frosting
Green Food Coloring
Green Sprinkles
Star Edibles or Other Candies

Equipment Needed:

Plate
Spoon
Knife

Directions:

Wash and dry hands.
Squeeze a few drops of food coloring into the frosting.
Mix the frosting with the spoon until the color is all mixed in.
Using the plastic knife, spread the frosting all over the cone.
Shake the green sprinkles onto the frosting to look like the pine needles.
Decorate the tree with the candies.
Let frosting dry.
The trees can be used as part of a gingerbread house village, or served along side a scoop of ice cream for dessert.

Tree Sandwich



Ingredients Needed:

2 Slices Bread
Sandwich Filling
Pretzel Nubs

Equipment Needed:

Knife
Plate

Directions:

Wash and dry hands.
Spread one slice of bread with filling.
Top with other slice of bread.
Cut off crusts.
Cut bread in half diagonally to make 2 triangle shapes.
Stick a pretzel nub in the bottom of each triangle to form the tree's trunk.
*  For a tree made out of a wrap-use a spinach wrap and spread with the filling and roll up. Slice up into 6,  1" coins and place on the plate with one coin at the top, followed by two coins, followed by 3 coins and then the nub for the trunk. This tree can be decorated with olive slices, or peppers/carrots cut into coins.
