December 2008 Recipes of the Month for  Bell Book and Candle Theme

We have 3 recipes to offer you for our Bell, Book and Candle theme, A Bell Salad, A Book Sandwich and a Candle Dessert.  Have a great holiday season!

BELL SALAD



Ingredients Needed:

Pear half
Raisins
Small rectangle cheese
Cherry

Utensils Needed:

Knife
Plate

Directions:

Wash and Dry hands.
Cut rounded bottom off pear half.
Place pear half, cut side down, on the plate.
Place cherry where the ringer of the bell would be.
Cut cheese rectangle into a bow shape and place at top of "bell".
Decorate the "bell" with raisins.
Serve.

BOOK SANDWICH

Ingredients Needed:

tortilla (the colored ones make wonderful book covers)
lunch meat
cheese
lettuce
squeezable mustard or mayo

Utensils Needed:

Scissors
Plate

Directions:

Wash and dry hands.
Cut a rectangle shape from the tortilla and put on the plate.
Layer lettuce on right half of the tortilla for a "page".
Add a "page of cheese".
Add a "page of luncheon meat" (cut with scissors if necessary to get the "page" shape).
Use condiments and squeeze on initials or words on the page.
Fold the cover of the book over the pages.
Decorate the cover with leftover pieces of tortilla, meat, cheese or lettuce.
Serve!

CANDLE DESSERT



Ingredients Needed:

Pineapple rings, or chunks that can be arranged in a circle
Banana
Cherry
Whipped cream/whipped topping or marshmallow fluff

Utensils Needed:

Plate
Knife to cut banana
Spoon for whipped cream/topping or fluff

Directions:

Wash and dry hands.
Place pineapple ring or arrange chunks in a circle in the center of the plate.
Stand  1/2 of banana in the center of the pineapple ring for the candle.
Place a dollop of whipped cream/topping/fluff on top of banana half to look like the candle's wax dripping down the side of the candle.
Place cherry on top of the "wax" to look like the candle's flame.
Serve.
