BONUS MARCH CRAFT

The youngest grandson (3) is staying with me and is "into" counting, and really needs practice cutting.  So we took an empty egg carton and turned it into a Counting Rainbow "Pot of Gold"

Materials Needed:

Empty Egg Crate
Paints
Paintbrush
Scissors
Glue Stick
21 Pennies
Pot of Gold Template

Directions:

Paint a "Rainbow" of colors on the outside and inside of the top of the egg crate. Let dry.
Cut out the 6 numbered  rainbow pot of gold rectangles from the template.
Glue the numbered rectangles in the back cells of the egg crate row.
Let the child "count out" the correct number of pennies and put them in the front row of cells.
*  We also used small candies and raisins to count and he could eat them when we were done playing with the game.
For older children you can teach them addition and subtraction by picking a pot and removing those pennies and seeing which other pots add up to that amount or what you can move and subtract from the amount.
Here is a picture of the template, if this does not work for you, email us and we will send you the pdf version of the 6 rectangles.
