yellow paint
paint brush
black marker
black construction paper

Have an adult cut a rectangle out of one side of the carton using an Exacto knife.
Directions:
1. Paint carton yellow. Let Dry. Repaint if necessary with a second coat.
2. Cut out 1 1/2" square pictures of children to become the
"windows" on the bus. (This can be a picture of them and their
best friends or perhaps their "table mates" for the year).
3. Cut out 4, 2" circles from the black paper to use as the wheels on the bus.
4. Glue the wheels and the pictures onto the dried yellow painted carton. let glue dry.
5. Complete the bus using the marker to draw on the headlights, frame the windows and personalize the bus.
* If the carton has a pour spout, draw a face on it and attach a blue construction paper hat to make it into the bus driver.
Now your bus is ready to transport supplies or hold papers.
This craft addresses wrist motion activity in the painting of the
carton as well as sustained grasp of the paint brush. Cutting
skills are addressed on the straight and curved lines levels. The
assembly of the bus addresses position in
space as well as eye-hand coordination. If you are working on
tactile issues, substitute finger paints and use paste for the glue.
