August 2009- Craft of the Month-Watermelon Theme
Watermelon Container - Great for storing little trinkets or school supplies!

Materials Needed:
Empty frozen topping container
Paint brush
Newspaper
Red and green acrylic paints
Green Magic Marker
Dried watermelon seeds or black/brown paint
Glue
Directions:
Take top of whipped topping container and paint the depressed area red, let dry. (Leave the lip of the top, white, to be the inside of the watermelon rind).
Take the bottom of the whipped topping container and paint the outside green, and let dry.
Repeat painting as necessary.
Take dried watermelon seeds and glue on the top of the container (on the red) and let dry. (Or paint/marker seeds on).
Use Magic Marker to draw lines on green part of watermelon to make it look more realistic.
This craft is good for bilateral motor control and repetitive wrist motion. Using the marker improves fine motor control.
