August has been declared Ice Cream Month, so to go with our craft of
the Month- Cylinder Ice Cream or School bus Cans, we have a recipe that
can be made in your cans.
Ice Cream in a Can

Ingredients:
a sandwich or pint size zip lock plastic bag
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup of half and half
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
6 tablespoons rock salt
ice cubes.
Directions:
1. Wash and dry hands.
2. Put a few ice cubes in the bottom of your can and add 1/2 of the rock salt.
3. Put the half and half, the vanilla and sugar into the zip lock bag and seal it.
4. Place the bag into the can and then add a few more ice cubes and the rest of the salt to the can.
5. Put the top on the can and either shake, toss or kick the can around for about 5-8 minutes.
6. Remove the lid and take out the small zip lock bag.
7. Wipe off the bag (salty) then open the bag carefully and enjoy your ice cream treat.
If you don't want to make the craft can--then use a 1-gallon size zip-lock bag
to put the ice and salt in--add your ice cream mixture bag and
just play catch with the bag, until the ice cream is made. You can
decorate the 1 gallon bag using permanant markers--a great activity for
practicing printing letters of the alphabet!
